Welcome to Snowline Rising

Snowline Rising is a reflective space created for my module Climate Change and Environmental Hazards at the University of London. This blog gathers my observations, connections, and moments of learning along the way.

The title refers to one of the clearest signs of a warming world: the rising snowline. When glaciers retreat and mountain ecosystems shift, the snowline moves higher each year. It's both a scientific measure of temperature and altitude and a symbol of changing thresholds in the landscape, within communities, and within ourselves.

Through this journal, I look at how different regions experience environmental hazards, from the forests of Western Germany, where bark beetle outbreaks and drought are reshaping entire hillsides, to the dry mountain regions of the American West, where heat, fire, and water scarcity define daily life.

My intention is to use this space for reflection and synthesis, connecting what I learn in this module with lived experience and examples from the field.

You’re very welcome to follow along as I post reflections throughout the module, and to share your own perspectives and experiences as we learn together about the changing dynamics of climate and resilience.
